NBMC News http://www.newzblast.com/ The fine folks at Budweiser showed up today with a bit of a treat. No it wasn't beer, darn. Driving into the Shelby Albertson's store parking lot, we at NBMC were met with a whole lot of red and a large 8. That was of course, one of Dale Earnhardt Jr's NASCAR cars. Shelby Montana Newest Sewer Line

NBMC News http://www.newzblast.com As Shelby Montana celebrates 100 years, some of its infrastructure is also near its centennial. Many years ago, mostly starting in the '80s , the City of Shelby started a rigorous campaign to replace and improve upon its potable water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer systems. Now comes a time to replace an aging sewer that is leaking, not out but in, that's right, the sewer is taking on ground water at a huge rate. That in turn is taxing the sewage treatment area by the increased and unwanted ground water entering the treatment area south-east of town.

Shelby, Montana Refinery All Gone

NBMC News http://www.newzblast.com As part of the continuing EPA cleanup, the old Shelby Oil Refinery has finally reached it's land area restoration. Some years ago, the tanks, buildings and equipment was removed. Next it was assessed as to how much earth and that below ground needed to be removed due to contamination. Just in the last year and a half, all contaminated earth and other material has been abated. A photo of the refinery can be seen in .pdf form Here.

Local Newspaper to Charge Online Readers

Apparently frustrated with low ad revenues, the Shelby Promoter has now decided to charge readers to see their online edition. The cost will be $35.00 a year or approx. $2.92 a month. Readers will also have to log-in each time with a username and password. We checked out the new online edition and found that it is a photo copy in .PDF format. It is not too hard to read if you have normal close to 20/20 vision but may be hard for someone with limited eyesight. We at NBMC purposely format our sites with larger print plus readers can use the zoom text only feature on their browser. Also, maybe it was because the computer was already handling several tasks but one of our computers crashed will viewing the Shelby Promoter's new site. It was a good excuse to get another cup of coffee while that computer resurfaced. By-the-way, NBMC is still free and open after eight years.

Shelby Promotor:
"Many of the most popular features are still on the newly-designed website, including weekly news, sports, feature stories and photos and obituaries. With the addition of the new “E-Edition,” which debuted last week, online readers will have access to the entire issue of the paper. Online readers will be able to read the “E-Edition” free for another week. Beginning with the April 7 issue, only those readers who have subscribed to the online issue or added that feature to their regular annual subscription, will be able to read the paper online."

Here is some thoughts about the upcoming date of December 21, 2012. You must have heard about that date being a supposed end of the world or some other big event. Come on, there are two major movies out that try to depict what may happen. Plus, here are some others trying to convince humanity. Journalist Lawrence Joseph forecasts widespread catastrophe in Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization’s End. Spiritual healer Andrew Smith predicts a restoration of a “true balance between Divine Feminine and Masculine” in The Revolution of 2012: Vol. 1, The Preparation. In 2012, Daniel Pinchbeck anticipates a “change in the nature of consciousness,” assisted by indigenous insights and psychedelic drug use. However, there are also leading scientists that are also trying to get the word out that it is very unlikely that anything like that is to happen. The buildup to 2012 echoes excitement and fear expressed on the eve of the new millennium, popularly known as Y2K, though on a smaller scale, says Lynn Garrett, senior religion editor at Publishers Weekly. She says publishers seem to be courting readers who believe humanity is creating its own ecological disasters and desperately needs ancient indigenous wisdom. "Maya civilization, known for advanced writing, mathematics and astronomy, flourished for centuries in Mesoamerica, especially between A.D. 300 and 900. Its Long Count calendar, which was discontinued under Spanish colonization, tracks more than 5,000 years, then resets at year zero. Looks like we really have is a super cool calendar that runs for more than 5000 years and then automatically resets itself. WOW! Mark Van Stone from famsi.org writes in part: "2012 does hold particular significance in Mayan scholarship. Those of us who study the ancient and modern Maya — anthropologists, archaeologists, art historians, linguists, historians, amateurs, collectors — have been anticipating the end of the Maya Great Cycle for some time..." You can read the rest Here and or get more input to impress your friends with. They will be amazed at your "deep" knowledge...
Here is a time counter to that date.

Next, let us know what you think of Global Warming or any other disaster on the horizon... Below is a great image of Seattle, WA. Remember to wear your overshoes...
